DAILY WALK

Good morning and today marks the beginning of our weekend of celebrating Independence Day in the United States of America. Today in 1776 is the day that the original Congress voted upon the Declaration of Independence but it was not formally signed until July 4th. Thus we celebrate our official independence on that day.

Today we read in Nehemiah chapters 5 and 6 and in Philippians chapter 3. Nehemiah hears the cries of the people who have been wrongly treated by their rulers. The fear of God availed and the people were restored. He is tested from within and without but his relationship with God allowed him to make the right choices.

In Philippians, Paul uses himself as an example of not returning to the law but pressing toward the reward through Jesus Christ. There are false prophets everywhere that subtly lead in the wrong direction. One who keeps their eyes on Jesus is not quickly led astray.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face,

and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.

Pray one for another
